In the summer of 1975, a bright light was seen falling into the hills south of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Some claim it was a meteor. Others said that, later, they found an unearthly material that appeared to be the remains of a flying vehicle. Shortly thereafter a child was born to a young hippie girl who had made her home in the old mining town. The child was Xoe Fitzgerald.
Xoe grew up in a world in which he didn't belong, in a body he could never inhabit, cast into a role he could never play. From very early on, Xoe new his quest in life was to find his way home.
Xoe returned to the mining town of his childhood after years of unsuccessful searching. On his return, he found that the mining company had a strangle hold on the community whose people lived disfranchised and in a state of fear. Xoe, with his songs and guitar, began a regular gig at the local honky tonk. The locals found his songs and stories extremely moving. Within a short period of time, Xoe became a local leader, spokesman of the people and an active member in the local union, fighting for the rights and livelihood of the miners.
A local inventor named Frank, told Xoe of his experiments with time, space and dimension. Xoe, lured by promises, collaborated with Frank which began a brief, but very dramatic relationship. Xoe hoped that with time travel on their side not only could it help in their struggle against the company thugs, but also could give Xoe insight into his past and his unknown genetic history.
But, in the summer of 2010, Xoe's favorite honky tonk was suddenly closed. Thugs hired by the mining company, came in, busted up the place, chained up the door and sent fear running through the local population. Xoe's ex-lover and confidant in time travel, Frank, was found murdered. These events sent Xoe into a period of darkness and rage. Xoe became the leader of a para-military organization who's goal was to overthrow the company thugs. But Xoe's hate, began to consume him.
While in the underground movement, Xoe learned that he was pregnant with Franks child. The knowledge of this lightened his heart and began to free him from the shackles of war. It was then that he was killed on the battle field. Comrades of Xoe's cut the unborn child from Xoe's womb.
The child was Francene Fitzgerald.
On December 11th, 2013, Xoe was buried in a shallow grave in the hills south of Santa Fe, New Mexico. There was no ceremony, no marching bands. Just a small wooden cross was placed on his grave. Those that knew Xoe, knew he had moved onto another dimension, into another time zone. And Xoe's old honky tonk, the one he had treasured was reopend and remodeled as an upscale wine bar and art gallery.
Xoe found himself in a new body, transformed into a butterfly, in search of the planet Rayleen, where one could dance for eternity.
And on earth, Xoe's songs and time travel experiment were forgotten. But, Xoe left behind something that could not be forgotten. Xoe gave to planet earth his greatest creation of all...Francene Fitzgerald, the child born with paisley eyes.
